Rent-a-Pony: Hertz Offers Penske-Inspired Ford Mustang GT

While Hertz offered the Shelby GT350H through the Hertz Rent-A-Racer program in 1966 and again in 2006, the rental company is now offering a special-edition Mustang through a partnership with Penske Racing called the ?Hertz Penske GT? ? a modified Ford Mustang GT ? as part of the Hertz Adrenaline Collection.

Performance upgrades for the Penske-inspired Ford Mustang GT include an air intake, quad-tip exhaust, ECU tuning, 3:55 differential gear, retuned suspension, and Brembo brakes. Inside, the special-edition Mustang features black Recaro seats, a Laguna Seca gauge pod, custom floor mats and door sills, and the MyFord Touch infotainment system with navigation and backup camera. Exterior highlights include black paint with Hertz yellow racing stripes, Boss 302 front splitter, Shelby GT500 rear valance, special graphics package, and faux Hertz gas cap.

The Hertz Penske GT was introduced July 5 at the Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway, and will be available for rent from select airports. Earlier this year, Hertz signed on as the primary sponsor of the No. 22 Penske Racing car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series. On July 13, the No. 22 Hertz Ford Mustang will race in a special livery mirroring the Hertz Penske GT in the New England 200 in Loudon, N.H.

Other cars in the Hertz Adrenaline Collection include the Ford Mustang Premium, Chevrolet Camaro SS coupe and convertible, Chevrolet Corvette convertible, and Dodge Challenger R/T. If a lightly modified Mustang GT isn?t enough, Hertz also offers the Dream Cars Collection that includes the Aston Martin V8 Vantage coupe, Ferrari F430 Spider, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, E63 AMG, and SLS AMG, Nissan GT-R, and Porsche 911, Boxster, Cayenne, and Panamera.
