Google recently changed the algorithm they use for their search rankings, which means that the guidelines for SEO best practices have changed. An important element of any successful internet outreach is branding. Branding enhances legitimacy and name recognition so consumers and clients will begin to trust any page that features your logo or stamp of approval.
Authenticity has become a critical part of Google?s new ranking system. Spam sites or empty, irrelevant social media profiles could once be used to improve rankings; these same types of sites will now penalize you in terms of what results page you will be found. Branding will boost positive rankings since branded sites are considered legitimate pages. Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn should include themed profiles with your company?s color scheme, and profile images should be identical on every profile. Users will associate these schemes and images with your brand, thus solidifying it in the eyes of your target market. Blogging sites need to also incorporate the branded colors and layouts of your official company pages, and profile images should again match those found on social media outlets.
When running your branding campaign, update your site regularly, including information that is either pertinent to your business or will interest your target demographic. Adding irrelevant information just for the sake of filling up blank space ? or worse, targeting keywords that are of no relation to your company ? can and will result in a lower rank. Backlinking should be handled in a similar fashion: Avoid accruing backlinks from irrelevant pages.
Take the time to incorporate proper branding techniques into your webpage and social media sites. Building a successful brand takes time, but it will result in name recognition, pushing your elusive yet vital search rankings higher.
