Chris Gayle all for glory, does not see Sri Lanka taking the final ? Cricket News Update

Flamboyant West Indies opener, Chris Gayle, who hammered an unbeaten knock of 75 runs in the semi-final of the ICC World Twenty20 against Australia on Friday, believes his side deserves to if the cup and while Sri Lanka are the hosts nation, they will not be allowed victory in the finale.

Speaking in the post-match interview, the left-handed batsman reckoned, ?World Cup is definitely ours, sorry Sri Lanka, but I think it is our World Cup. The support will be more for West Indies on Sunday. We love Sri Lanka, but sorry, it is going to be West Indies all the way. The final will be a good final but we will be on top, definitely."

"We needed this victory badly and I am overall happy with the performance. Australia have been playing well so far, and to turn the table on them today was very pleasant,? he added.

Australia were completely out played by a collective effort put in by West Indies, who first gave a brave batting performance and hammered a staggering total of 205 in 20 overs to not only tighten their grip on the match but also put the Aussies under enormous pressure.

The fabulous batting performance was backed by an outstanding bowling, where the Windies did not give hard-hitters David Warner and Shane Watson any breather to dictate the match.

The two Aussie batsmen were neutralized without much on the board, sinking Australia in pits of hell.

Middle-order batsman, Michael Hussey was of no good either as he was sent back without allowing him to stay on the wicket long enough to pose a serious threat.

A fiery innings from skipper GJ Bailey was the only highlight of the Australian innings, where the skipper smacked 63 runs.

With R Rampaul leading the way by nabbing three wickets, West Indies restricted the opposition on 131, securing a 74-run victory to storm their way into the final.

Congratulating his side?s emphatic performance, West Indies skipper Darren Sammy said, ?We did what we had to do, everybody turned up. Chris and Marlon set it up for us and then the bowling turned up too."

If West Indies manage to beat Sri Lanka on Sunday, October 7, this will be their biggest achievement since their Champions Trophy victory in 2004.
